Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Washington, DC

Use if you are a fan of Lying, bullying, losing boxes.

A.  I paid over $14,000 for a move from Los Angeles to DC with full EDP insurance with 0 deductible, including door to door car delivery.

B.  I was yelled at, bullied and threatened by the driver in LA. He left a mess in my house and departed without my knowing, without a walk through as he had promised. I did not receive an inventory or any documents. He remained incommunicado with my Allied Move Coordinator for 5 days.

C. Because I was afraid of being alone with the driver, Mr. Waldron. I wrote the President of Allied Van Lines. The Assistant to the President of Allied Servo, Cheryl Gondell, sent a supervisor for the delivery. Ultimately, the driver, Mr. Waldron, did not enter my home. He sent 3 men to deliver and assemble. They were not done in 8 hours, and left items incorrectly assembled. I signed the Customer Checkoff List leaving 20 items unchecked and wrote I was unable to confirm the presence of many numbered boxes. Boxes were stacked high, many rows deep, with green sticker often on the side I could not see. I may also have been looking at numbers of orange stickers, not understanding the difference. Plus some items were left in my storage compartment downstairs. I could not keep up.

D. I ultimately found I was missing two very large boxes. I filed my claim assuming insurance would cover the loss of the contents of the 2 boxes. I had contents itemized in my moving notebook. My claim was denied because the driver, Mr.Waldron, submitted the Customer Checkoff List and wrote “Customer refused to sign”. He checked off every item as having been delivered. He falsified the document he submitted. I have my original signed form. This original version shows I left 20 items unchecked and wrote a comment as stated above. :

E. I explained this and was told that since I had packed items myself, the maximum amount I could receive was $600. My loss is significantly above $2,000

:Upon closer review of my documents, I now see I was charged for Mover packing 8 dish packs and 1 wardrobe box: $488.72. I also see Mr. Siegal also charged me for moving many items that were not moved.

:These services and products were Never received nor requested.

:But if Allied had packed these boxes, according to Allied, I should be entitled to receive full replacement value for missing items.

:If Allied did not pack, I should not have been charged $488 for packing services and for boxes. They can’t have it both ways.

F. I paid for door to door car delivery. I did not receive that service. I had to drive my rental car to Virginia to retrieve my car.

G. I have written documentation of all of the above statements, emails from my Moving Coordinator, Ms. Gomez, emails from Cheryl Gondell, Assistant to the President of Alied/Sirvo, copies of original and fraudulent documents from the driver, Mr. Waldron, boxes with orange and green stickers still affixed to them after all this time.

H: This is why I am warning people off of Allied. They hire potentially dangerous drivers who lie, bully, and falsify documents. They charge for services not received. I recommend you go with the more costly smaller moving companies. In the end, it will it will pay off as you will not have lost items and will have full coverage for breaks and losses. This was the case with a friend who recently moved 2,000 miles.

Long-distance move from North Augusta, SC to Santa Fe, NM

Serious damage to items and loss of items

In April of 2023, Allied Van Lines picked up my belongings from our 4 bedroom house in South Carolina, stored them for 7 months, and delivered them to our house in Santa Fe, NM on November 23, 2023. Prior to the move, I told the mover that my belongings included a large number of old and rare books- most of which were expensive and difficult to replace- that needed careful handling. I also bought insurance (extra care protection) for the books with a valuation of $150,000.00, documented in my contract. There were more than 400 cardboard boxes in the move, and the cost of moving and storage was $61,847.

It took weeks to open all the boxes, but when I did, I discovered that 110 of the books were missing, and an additional 21 books were severely damaged. Many pieces of furniture were badly damaged, and many of the boxes had been crushed by the movers.

Allied conducted a trace/search for the missing items, but could not find them. They had lost my items.

Using an inventory of the books that I had made prior to the move, and consulting websites such as Amazon and AbeBooks, I calculated what it would cost to replace the books, which came to $44,289, well under the $150,000 coverage that I had purchased from Allied.

I submitted a claim to Allied, but they refused to honor the insurance (extra care protection) that I had purchased from them. Instead of using any reasonable valuation of the books, they calculated their reimbursement as if the boxes contained ordinary household items rather than rare books, and calculated their reimbursment at the rate of $125/box. And they based their reimbursement of the damaged books as if their age prior to the damage made them less valuable - but in fact the opposite is true, old and rare books are more valuable. Their total offer for the missing and damaged books was $5,576, less than 13% of what it would cost to replace the books.

I filed an appeal with Allied, but they refused to rethink their offer.

In other words: I informed Allied that the moved items included a large number of rare, valuable and expensive books; they assured me they would treat them carefully; I bought insurance (extra value protection) form Allied, and told them (in writing) that the valuation of the books was $150,000; they lost 110 of the books and badly damaged 21 books; Allied refused to honor the insurance I bought from them and calculated their reimbursement as if the boxes contained ordinary household objects rather than expensive books, and calculated their reimbursement for the damaged books as if old books were of little value - despite a careful analysis of the replacement costs of the books. Allied refused to change their calculations after appeal.

Allied lost and damaged my rare books, ignored their responsibility to honor their insurance (extra care protection) that included $150,000 coverage, and gave me less than 13% of the true replacement value of the books. They badly damaged much of my furniture as well, and many of the boxes were crushed. Allied did not take care of my belongings as promised, despite knowing that they were valuable, and refused to honor their insurance responsibilities - acts that could be described as deceptive and dishonest. STAY AWAY FROM ALLIED!!

Fantastic Move

The move went great from start to finish. Even when I had to add a few things last minute, they were there to help and were able to walk me through what to expect on the day of the move. When the movers picked up and delivered my items, they were so helpful and transparent.

This has by far been the smoothest move I have ever experienced. Thank you so much Allied. You guys were awesome and I will be referring your company in the future.

Local move within Florida

Within Florida Move Not good service.

This was a move that was from 1 side of Florida to the other. From a house to condo; condo on 3rd floor of building and accessible via elevator and/or staircase.
4 bookcases were invoived in this move. 2 bookcases stand about 6 feet tall 2 1/2' feet wide. These bookcases were delivered with no problems.
The other 2 bookcases are museum style bookcase; they do not come apart (shelves were removeable); doors have glass fronts and are removeable as well. they stand 7 feet tall and 4 feet wide. The ceilings of the condo are 8 feet tall.
When bookcases were picked up; it was requested by the mover to have the doors removed and packed since they were glass. That was not done. When they were delivered, one door had been broken, The movers refused to deliver these bookcases. They determined that there was no way for them to delivered either via the elevator or the staircase. We had multiple conversations with the movers and they refused to budge on this point. They insisted that it just "isn't possible for these bookcases to come upstairs". At this point they refused to work until payment had been made.
We paid them, they brought in the rest of the furniture, etc. and the bookcases were relocated to storage on site. My daughter called our contractor and some of her friends and they determine the bookcases would be able to come up the stairs. They removed the doors (as we had requested) and between the 4 guys, they managed to get both bookcases in the condo in about 15 minutes. Allied said, there is no way it can be done; well it was done no thanks to them.
Also, some furniture has been damaged and pieces missing. We will not recommend this moving company to anyone we know. They are not easy to work with and lazy when it comes to moving "big" furniture items.

Damage with 100% coverage but Allied not honoring agreement.

The movers were inexperienced, the damages we had to our furniture were in the words of Allied's delivery team, "The worst they have ever seen." The furniture claims inspector Allied sent who has worked in furniture claims for 30 years "had never seen furniture damaged or packed this poorly."

We took pictures, we have damages that are clear and are not on the bill of lading, and Allied is offering us cents on the dollar. Here is $7000 for your $60,000 in damages. True they have the right to repair, but not items that are not repairable. We have moved with Graebel and we will never use Allied Van Lines again.

Customer service for the claim has been beyond awful.

Long-distance move from Texas to California

Allied is the WORST.

Just had the worst moving experience ever. After 25 years of working with the Army, multiple international and local moves with no more than broken light bulbs, I unfortunately went with Allied/Coleman moving. The most inept bunch of movers I've ever seen. I packed myself, they only had to wrap my furniture and load. That took them 12 HOURS!!
THEN they came 3 days later than they promised. Then, unloading with a smashed TV, broken 150 year old Chinese book case. Plus, two smashed oriental lamps, and a broken lamp my daughter got me when she was 8. The only things broken, so far, was what they wrapped. One guy on the crew was Impossible. . Did everything the hardest way possible. Stay away from this company.

Long-distance move from Rifle, CO to Wasilla, AK

Allied Van will destroy your belongings!!

Preparing to move, my family and I rented a large UHaul to transport some furniture and essentials. We knew there would be an unavoidable risk of breakage en route, and accepted that some of our things would be damaged no matter how well packed. However, we hoped that hiring professionals who do this very thing for a living, and present their unique training as cause for specialized retention and payment, would mitigate that risk We were gravely mistaken in choosing Allied Van Lines (through Alliance Moving Systems, in Gypsum, CO) and write this to hopefully save someone else the same heartache.

On load day, I provided plenty of boxes, packing blankets, wrapping paper, tie downs and plywood sheets. I explained to the movers that this load would be going across the county and traversing several mountain ranges, so I needed firm security. While loading, I noticed they were wrapping all the furniture in only a bit of cellophane, and they refused my request to use the blankets, obliging me to call their supervisor. I was told essentially to mind my own business, but the blankets were indeed utilized—to wrap pillows! The majority of the wood furniture was carelessly protected, the boxes were stacked haphazardly without regard to weight order; many heavy boxes were stacked up high, and only a few horizontal straps applied, while most of the plywood sheets were stacked inanely on the side.

This and more were discovered when we began unloading. A full stainless steel grill was demolished due to collapse of top heavy loading, and heavy boxes were found to have been loaded on its flimsy, unsupported wings; a curve-armed wooden loveseat was stood on end, and heavy boxes fell on the ribs en route, bursting them; glass shelves to a curio cabinet were wrapped in a few pieces of paper, stood on end loose against the wheel well and were discovered shattered; dumbbells were placed randomly throughout load, and one 20lb weight was found sitting on a naked wood armoire into which it had gouged a hole, and many other boxes, pieces of furniture and equipment suffered damage ranging from crush injury to utter destruction, which were too varied and numerous to warrant specific recording. Meanwhile, again, the blankets I provided went to wrap pillows, the boxes I had collected went unused, etc. Thus, all my efforts to prevent the worst by providing supplies were disdained, my respectful concerns were met with deplorable customer service, our belongings were treated with downright contempt, and we ultimately suffered excessive--and needless--loss.

Long-distance move from Houston, TX to Logan, UT

Moved from Houston, TX to Utah.

The worst moving experience I have EVER had. I’ve moved states 3 times prior. And moved 5 times within the state.

Dale Morgan (Westheimer Transfer & Storage) came out to walk my house. Most of our stuff was boxed and sitting in my garage. So, to me it seemed very clear how much we had and what needed to be loaded. He saw everything and gave me a quote. We received 3 bids and went with Allied.

Loading day: The truck showed up with a prior load so the crew was unable to get all our stuff loaded. After trying to contact the office unsuccessfully, I was assured by the crew they’d get the rest on another truck the next day.

Allied showed up the next day with a box truck (REALLY?!?) STILL unable to load everything. I needed to leave so I could meet the driver in Utah to let him in our house to unload. Again, after being reassured they get everything I left. About 3 hours into my drive to Utah I get a call from Dale Morgan who then tells me that I need to pay a third party to come take apart our weight gym. THIS WAS THE FIRST I HEARD OF THIS. (Remember he walked my house and SAW everything) So, I ended up paying $300 to a third party to come take apart the weight gym while I was driving. I felt taken advantage of because I was backed into a corner. Hire the company or they wouldn’t load the gym.

5 days later the first truck showed up in Utah. Took about 6 hours to unload. 2 guys to unload and driver were excellent. Didn’t realize UNTIL AFTER THEY LEFT that they left a mattress standing up in my garage. 2 beds arrived out of 5 so my kids slept on the floor. I had to go buy a mattress so my kids had something to sleep on. (I was reimbursed – because we bought the full coverage insurance)

15 days later the SECOND truck shows up. (My kids first day of school in a new state, new school, new friends – they should have been done before they got home from school, right?! NOPE!) Took 3 guys 10 HOURS to unload. The driver worked hard. The 1st guy acted like he didn’t know anything so I stood outside most of the time reading boxes to him. The 2nd guy slept on the front lawn for 6 hours! Yes, you read that right 6 hours! At 8 pm I made a call to corporate to complain. (I missed EVERYTHING great about my kids FIRST day of school) They claimed they couldn’t get a couch through the front door so they left it in the garage.

68 days later the THIRD truck showed up. Half my stuff looked like it was stored outside. (Even after being reassured that it was being kept in a climate-controlled storage unit in Houston)

So, Original contract stated our stuff would arrive in 7-10 days BUT they took 68 days…………………………

The people I dealt with lied continually about the status of our stuff, never answered or returned my calls, made promises that clearly, they never intended to keep. BUT WERE PAID IN FULL THE SAME DAY ¼ OF MY STUFF LEFT HOUSTON. I’ll spare you the long list of lies I was told by Dale Morgan and Angie and the few others that work in the Houston office.

This ALL could have been a delightful experience IF THEY WOULD HAVE SHOWED UP DAY 1 WITH AN EMPTY SEMI TRAILER.

3 loads and with each load different items were left in my garage claiming they couldn’t get it through the door. I had to hired a local moving company 3 TIMES to move items into my house. Things were damaged along the way.

The company they hired to come out to fix broken, ripped or damaged items were great to work with. This was an awful experience, awful!! I wouldn’t use this company to move if it was gifted to me. Please save yourself the stress and heartache and HIRE a different company.

Long-distance move from Houston, TX to Glendale, CA

Highly destructive and not reliable company

Allied Van Lines damaged my brand new sofa pretty bad during the delivery, that plus other damages. Without even trying, the moving crew decided that the sofa was too big to use the elevator. Instead, they decided to bring it up to the third floor using the stairs without any extra protection further than the plastic film used to protect from dust. They ripoff pieces of the sofa by strong friction against concrete walls, cement floors, and roof. Their settlement letter, in regards to the sofa; $125 plus $500 dollars that come out of my pocket (deductible) after choosing their standard full value protection for carrier liability. The amount offered is to cover a cheap and very poor patch-up solution that consists in pulling up the fabrics to cover the ripoff pieces, according to the sofa manufacturer, this will leave the item below quality standards subject to unevenness, tearing, tension on the fabric and leave visible areas where the upholstery will not be consistent. They damage and they push the costumer to receive peanuts. Certainly a moving company to avoid!

Long-distance move from Scottsdale, AZ to Chicago, IL

Bad mover & not reliable

I paid almost $ 11,000. for my move. It was delayed for 8 days. No explanation as to why it was delayed. I had booked my move 8 weeks in advance; this was more than enough time to schedule a crew for my delivery. I filed a delayed shipment claim ( for daily items I needed, food etc ) $ 260.46 and it was denied. My wife and I had to sleep on the floor which was uncomfortable for me as I am 67 years old and have severe back problems.

This was a ( 5) crated shipment. I had missing / damaged items that Allied “ cannot account for “ and “ their tracing results were unsuccessful in confirming a loss “. Allied cannot say that; I had my name, address & phone number on all boxes in addition to their barcode. So, the scanning system Allied uses is unreliable and ineffective. (Or air lying and just don’t care. ( Fedex and UPS have no issues for tracking of shipments ) My high value item packed by Allied a 55” Samsung TV was missing, wardrobe box was missing, etc. To add further insult, at delivery the driver, Mr Ru *** was rude, refused to listen to me, did NOT allow inspection for items packed by Allied or unwrap them. He unloaded our shipment onto a truck by himself the day before delivery. That is a security breach to make sure my belongings are not MISSING ( which happened ) He was non compliant with shipping procedures. My claim for items missing /damaged totaled $ 2346.00 and Allied is only giving me $ 600. after my deductible. That is pathetic. I have moved interstate at least 6 times and NEVER once had a driver refuse to listen to me. BEWARE - Allied is an unprofessional company that takes your money, will lose your belongings, break your items, delay shipment and not pay you for your claims. They are an unreliable company not to be trusted. I am disappointed, dissatisfied with their services and cannot recommend them to anyone.

Allied Van LInes.

Allied did a great job.  They showed up on pickup day as promised and on time.  Their employees were very careful and professional in loading our belongings.  They had to unload and store our stuff because no delivery truck was available for several days, so they did all that at no expense to us and big expense to them.  On the delivery end the driver called ahead as promised and showed up right on time.  The employees again were very careful with our stuff and very fast, too.  We were very happy with the communication and the price, which ended up being lower than the estimate after the load was weighed.  If you need to move long-distance, trust Allied.  This is the second time we have used them and were happy both times.

Long-distance move from Georgia to Colorado

Allied Van Lines.

We chose Allied as they are a national brand, so felt more secure paying a higher price.  We were dissapointed for the following reasons: Pick-up: -movers dropped furniture down our new hardwood stairs causing significant damage (also backed a piece of furniture into a wall causing damage) -we specifically asked and were told the pick-up truck would be the same truck to drop-off.  Turns out this was a lie: our furniture was unloaded to a warehouse, then re-loaded.  Driver of that truck couldn't deliver, so furniture off-loaded again, then on-loaded to the truck that finally made the delivery.  Somewhere along the line, we had significant damage to ~30% (literally) of our furniture -movers were unable to fit all of our belongings onto the truck, so instead of waiting for a truck with full capacity to make the entire delivery, Allied shipped part of our furniture (pieces chosen at their discretion) and left part behind; therefore, we have 1/2 of a TV stand, for example.  Deliver date was 12/15. It is now 12/29 and we are still waiting for the rest of our furniture -customer service: at the local level, they have moved at a SNAIL's pace to get anything resolved.  I finally had to contact the corporate customers service, who was actually very helpful.   I never write reviews (first one, actually, as I have a high tolerance for bad service) but I felt a responsibility to post this with hopes of preventing someone from incurring the same problems we ran into.  Granted, every experience is different, even within the same company.  I will never use Allied again, though, after this experience. .

Stay away from Allied!

We moved from Los Angeles to Denver. The quote seemed reasonable, in line with other quotes from Mayflower, North American, etc. So we signed the contract. About a week before our scheduled load date, they called and wanted to change the pick up date from Monday to Tuesday. We had already told our landlord that we'd be out on Monday, so that wouldn't work. They told us they would have to have their guys come pick it up Monday and then transfer it to an Allied truck on Tuesday. We were not comfortable with this at all. When my husband asked to speak to the manager about it, the manager tried to make it sound like he was doing us a favor, he said, "Well this is going to cost us a lot of money but we're not passing that cost on to you."   It's not our problem if an unforeseen issue on your end costs you a little extra! We should have gotten out right then, but we didn't think we could. That was just the beginning of our terrible problems.  When they came to load on Monday the movers didn't put down plastic and tracked dirt all through our house. They didn't disassemble or pad our furniture properly. They left cigarette butts all over our driveway. When they had us sign the load paperwork, we noticed they had marked that every single piece of our furniture was dinged, scraped, or damaged in some way. They even marked that our leather couch had rust. Hello? It's a leather couch with no metal whatsoever, where the heck is the rust?!?! But we had to sign the paperwork or they wouldn't take our stuff. It was a nightmare.  When the truck arrived at our new home in Denver things got really bad. There was a rip in our leather couch, huge scrapes and gouges in some of our wood furniture. Parts had been disassembled when they switched trucks, and pieces were missing. The movers said it wasn't their problem since they weren't the ones who loaded the first truck.  The last straw was when they carried in a 100lb car jack in on top of a totally smashed box. When we complained, the driver said that the box was already smashed. Well, that doesn't mean you put a 100lb jack on top of it!  When we started to make comments about how things were being handled, the driver said, "How about you guys stop complaining and just let me do my job?!" We both just stood there in shock. Then he tried to tell us how he was being nice to us and could have charged us extra because it was snowing and he had to shovel a 2 foot path but he wanted to catch the football game so we got lucky. What does that even mean? We had been told by our sales agent that the movers would reassemble our furniture in our new home. They didn't, and when we asked them to they said it would be an additional charge.  They were so rude to me and my husband I wanted to tell them to just get out. If I had ever treated anyone like that at my job I would have been fired on the spot. I guarantee if their supervisors had seen the way they treated us and our belongings they would have been appalled.  We tried calling Berger, they basically said it wasn't their problem since they don't handle drivers. They sent us a $100 check.  We paid over $2300 for crappy and rude service. We are trying to file a claim to get some money to replace our damaged goods, but because the guys who loaded the truck marked everything as damaged I doubt we will see a cent.  So all I can say is stay the heck away from Berger and Allied. I can understand having a few hiccups, but our move was plagued from beginning to end, from terrible loaders, damaged goods, rude drivers, and a very difficult claim process, all I can conclude is that this whole company stinks. .

Long-distance move from Kansas to Florida

Had I Known I would have picked another company.

We moved from Wichita KS to Clearwater FL
If we were told upfront that our belongings would not all fit on one truck (because there were already 2 other customers on already) we certainly would have picked another company. Our move started Dec 22 2011, our 1st truck arrived Tuesday Dec 27 2011 (4 BOXES MISSING AND A CRACKED TABLETOP). As of today Jan 4 2012 we still do not have the remainder, and when I spoke to a representative yesterday they still have no idea when they will have a driver to deliver the remainder of our belongings! I find this truly unacceptable and have no idea what to do about it! Of course keep in mind when they delivered load #1 they collected the total amount due (certified check) before they unloaded anything so I get the impression there is no hurry!
I have called daily and get the same response..I have talked to a supervisor who claims to be monitoring the situation. There was no guaranteed delivery date, there is no reimbursement for the delay..WILL WE EVER GET OUR BELONGINGS? I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE!

Items Were Stolen.

Had I known my $700 TV would be stolen and when claimed with Allied I would be offered $24 in return, I never would have chosen Allied as my moving company. I never expected $700 but I did expect something like $200 or $300 for a 3 year old plasma TV..THIS IS NOT OK and I AM INSULTED.

Oh and.. all of my husbands tools were also stolen out of his car when it was transported across country. He never put in a claim which is a good thing because they probably would have offered him $5. BUT IT STILL HAPPENED.

One piece of advice.. whatever moving company you choose, be sure to specifically ask how they handle claims of damaged and stolen items. What is their process and how do they value items. Also ask about the different insurance options and how that effects the cost of your property.

International move from , DC to , DXB

Move to Dubai, UAE cost $13000 in Damages.

They destroyed a stickley dining room set, including table and buffet; an antique desk; a stickley dresser; wine glasses; antique glasses; other miscellaneous items. We had set insurance and they refused to pay up on the stickley dining room set despite fact that buffet was destroyed and was unrepairable. The "repaired" chairs - each and every one was scratched or dented - and painted them a different color and deemed them repaired. They only paid, 1/3 of value.

Once the furniture was picked up, they were completely unresponsive and unhelpful. I cannot stress enough how much you should not use them. I have been through several international moves. They are truly unprofessional and should be banned from transatlantic moving.

Excellent Moving Company.

I recently moved from WV to MI. I called several companies, some of which would not even do an in-house estimate (only online). I had tow companies who did visual estimate at my house (Allied Vanlines being one of them). The level of professionalism exhibited by the agent was excellent. He was thorough in doing his estimate, which I believe helped in determining the cost (which never changed). I packed myself. On the pick-up date, the driver was at my house perfectly on time. It was a Friday with a delivery date set for Monday after 11 am in Michigan. On Monday at 11 am, the driver called me to inform that he was about one hour from my home. He arrived within that hour. Everything was delivered. The driver was honest such that he even told me about minor damage to my washer and gave me the contact person for filing a claim. I filed a claim, their claim department settled the claim promptly. If you are planning a move, consider Allied Vanlines.

Lost items, horrible customer service.

For those who do not want to read a whole review, here is a summary of this review: DO NOT MOVE WITH ALLIED. Never.

Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced with any company of any sort.

Even before I had my stuff delivered, I had the hardest time getting through to talk a real person to schedule my delivery date. The dispatch and the central office gave me two different price quotes, and they took my stuff without letting me know which was right. And I had to call and e-mail them continuously to find that out.

Even more significantly, they lost two items, which could be understood as a human mistake. However, the bigger problem is that they never found it for me. Honestly, I doubt they even looked to find my items. They never called me back, and I had to call them continuously over the period of 2 months to track the items. After trying for 2 months, all they told me was that they could not locate them and I had to file a claim.

The agents in claims department are very rude and are not at all interested in finding the lost items for you. They never even apologized for what happened. The only person that was nice that I dealt with was the person who came to my house to give me an estimate. Of course, he/she will be nice to you because they want you to move with them. As soon as you hire them, everyone else you deal with afterwards is rude and not at all interested in good service.

Overall, it was a terrible, terrible experience moving with them. If you care about your items and more importantly your sanity, do not even consider moving with them for a fraction of a second.

Long-distance move from Arkansas to Washington

Don't use Allied Van Lines.

We were guananteed a 2 day window for delivery. The day before they were scheduled to pick up furniture we were told that our driver was pulled and they didn't have another. Our furniture would have to be stored in their warehouse until a driver was found. The packers were 8 hours late and didn't finish until 10:30 pm. I asked them to cover the stairs (beige) and they never did. Our furniture arrived 7 days late (so much for the guarantee!) I had several pieces of furniture with big chunks taken out, some with scratches. Boxes were literally smashed, even with "fragile" stickers all over it. I was told that it was my fault because if it had been packed right, that wouldn't have happened. It was a very "sloppy" move and would not use them again!

Long-distance move from Arizona to Pennsylvania

Do Not Use.

I used Allied moving out of Phoenix. It was a really horrible experience.

They were late arriving to pack up my things. They also charged me extra at the last minute to deliver when they said they would deliver.

When they delivered my things they broke: TV, 2 dressers, TV stand, sofa, scratched dining table. And they didn't put racks into the wardrobe boxes so everything was crushed and wrinkled.

The move was really traumatic and I even paid for the full insurance and they still wouldn't pay for all the things that were broken or damaged.

Please don't use them if you value your furniture.

Long-distance move from Oregon to California

Bad move with Alliance Van Lines.

Please guys, who ever trying to engage this mover please stay away to have your peace of mind. Everything went bad with the word 'go' right from the beginning. This move is about my household items.
Sharing them for readers benefits:
1. Did not picked up items on time
2. Rude people entering into apartment and having issues with proper estimation. Price jacked up by another $400 and made to pay the extra money upfront.
3. Once items picked up, no word on when it is to be delivered.
4. Despite so many calls nothing returned. Fed up and wrote a lengthly mail and reply received that they have 21 days to deliver. (reply was so rude as well)
5. Waited for 21 days and contacted as well. (Imagine the pain and agony on staying without anything on a new location in this state!)
6. Finally a word came from no where that it will be delivered on 22nd day.
7. Delivered most of the items and found 3 important boxes missing.
8. Still in touch with them to trace where my items are.
Anyone willing to engage them please think about these and best of luck to you.
Thanks.

Long-distance move from Tennessee to New Mexico

Allied Van Lines.

We contracted to have our household goods moved from Tennessee to New Mexico with Allied. Our things were picked up on 6/8/11 and were to be delivered between 6/15 & 6/20. Called today to find out status of our shipment and was told it was still in storage and it did not have a driver assigned. No one called, no one emailed, absolutely nothing was said to us to let us know that we were not going to have our things delivered anytime soon. Allied does not offer decent compensation for this inconvenience either. So our family is in an empty house, sleeping on a air mattress with no way to cook, no way to do laundry and absolutely miserable.

Long-distance move from Kentucky to Virginia

Never use these movers!!

I moved from Ky to Va after my husband passed away. The movers mis-labeled boxes and placed china with bed sheets and things like that. Once it came time to deliver my items it was like I was bothering the driver. They did not put together the items they took apart when packing my home up like stated in my paper work. I had a clock given to me by my brother when he was serving in Germany and that was "misplaced" and also my coat rack made by my husband before he passed went "missing". Also some small items like a radio and floor covering for my computer chair went missing. The driver when I asked him if he was going to find the pieces to put together my things said, " I have to get on the road and I do not want to sit in traffic so you can call the company and speak to them about anything missing." Once the movers left they left empty gatoraid bottles all over my yard with no regards to me or the neighborhood. Then when I called about the missing items the lady was extreamly rude and acted like she did not care. They said they had a tracker on it and would call me back. I waited a week and I had to call her back with no answers once again. After the third time she once again had no regards to my belongings and said "oh we can't find your things so we will send you a check." Well that does not replace anything but at least these people could have at acted like they cared. And they sent me a whole whooping $200 check. I would never recommed this moving company, even to my worst enemy. They were so irresponsible as a company and have no regard to personal property, aslong as they get on the road in time.

Long-distance move from Nebraska to Florida

Claims service following move.

The home company in my city was fine. My problem is Allied's customer service for claims. It has been 6 weeks and my claim has not yet been settled. This is not a major claim, the damages to be repaired/replaced are minimal. And, yet, to date nothing has been done. Someone came to view the damages the first week of August. I have been waiting since then for the repairs to be completed.
Allied customer service followup is almost non-existent. I was told today that it is their "busy" season. But that should not effect my claim and my repairs.
I have used other companies for our moves, which have been long distance, and not one has failed to satisfy the claims in a timely manner.
I would advise others to use another company, such as Atlas Van Lines. Their customer service was excellent.
I was unable to use them for this move.
I will never use Allied Van Lines again.
